Morbius, a film about superheroes set in 2022, and based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name, is made by Columbia Pictures and Marvel. The film is distributed by Sony Pictures releasing and is the third installment of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. The film was written and directed by Daniel Espinosa. Written by Matt Sazama, Burk Sharpless and Jared Harris, it stars Jared Leto in the role of Dr. Michael Morbius. After the treatment of a rare blood disorder, Morbius and Milo are living vampiros.

As with many Marvel films, this is essentially a story of good versus evil. Jared Leto plays Dr. Michael Morbius, a Nobel Prize-winning scientist who has suffered from an extremely blood-borne illness since his childhood. But that hasn’t prevented him from helping others. While he’s able to develop a cure for his own condition that can benefit millions of people, it soon becomes an affliction as it turns him a blood-sucking vampire. Morbius however, is much more conscious of his true nature and is willing to do anything to stop him from taking innocent lives. But Milo (Matt Smith) isn’t quite as sophisticated. As a victim of the same illness that Morbius is suffering from, Milo (Matt Smith) is angry and embracing the powers of the demons in the latest “cure” and unleashes terror across the city. Only Dr. Morbius can stop him. Or can he?
It’s not an easy thing to answer. It is necessary to see the entire film after the credits have ended. But, there are certain elements that could be taken as meanings. “Morbius” is a continuation of the same pattern, with director Daniel Espinosa (Matt Sazama) and Burk Sharpless (writers). They provide us a basic premise that could be used to tell an entire narrative.
The story quickly builds to a battle we observe from afar. However, there’s a bit of excitement in the way it’s handled. The screenplay isn’t overly bloody or rife with action, however, it’s well-written and creates an impression. This is a comic book, therefore logic isn’t going to aid. The main suspect in the murder has a cup of coffee with his girlfriend as the police are following him. He leaves wearing an hoodie and nobody recognizes his name, despite being featured in news reports. There’s more technical jargon however it’s not overly complicated or elaborate.
The hero and the villain make use of their power to accomplish what they believe to be right, the film is filled with eerie and depressing scenes. The most vibrant part of the film is Dr. Morbius’ and Milo’s dark, psychedelic tracks that are smoky as they leap from rooftops and drop from high-rises. While the running time is short and the ending is abrupt, it’s a shocker. We’re sure this was deliberate.
Jared Leto easily fits into the character of Morbius by virtue of his mysteriously dark and brooding eyes that shift colour and are constantly looking upwards. CGI is extremely scary and fascinating, especially on the face features. Adria Arjona and Matt Smith are both good however they aren’t as great in the same way as Milo or Martine. This is also because the story and characters are pretty typical. They don’t have any room to be creative.
Overall, “Morbius” is a decent superhero film with plot twists that are both predictable and enjoyable. Make sure to look out for the thrilling moments as well as gravity-defying stunts and the special effects that make this action-adventure epic the action-adventure adventure you’ve been waiting for.
